IES took us all to Southern Spain for the weekend - we visited Sevilla and Granada:
| Beautiful Sevilla |
| Columbus' tomb in the Sevilla Cathedral. They did DNA tests, so they know at least some of his remains are here... |
| View from the belltower |
| With Leah, Amanda, Hannah, and Alex in front of the cathedrall. You can't tell from this photo, but it's the 3rd largest cathedral in the world! |
| PALM TREES!!! |
| Plaza de España |
| They had tiled alcoves for each of Spain's provinces - we're such loyal Salamantinos! |
| with Amanda |
| The gardens of the Alahambra palace in Granada - the most visited place in Spain |
| Alahambra |
| with Kim in the Alhambra gardens |
| inside |
| view from the Alhambra |
| with Hannah, Amanda, Katie, Kim, Leah, and Alex |
| The Alhambra is literally one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! |
| statue of Columbus and Queen Isabella in Granada |
| view of the Alhambra from the Albaicin neighborhood |
| cars barely fit down the narrow street of the Albaicin |
| Granada's cathedral (plus some people getting their wedding photos taken) |
| We went to see a flamenco show in one of the "caves" where the gypsies used to live |
| flamenco dancer |
| We stopped in Consuegra on the way back |
| The windmills of Consuegra that inspired Cervantes when he wrote Don Quijote |
| Probably my favorite photo of the trip - three Don Quijotes on "horseback" off to attack the windmills (yes, we're that lame...) |
