Andalucía

IES took us all to Southern Spain for the weekend - we visited Sevilla and Granada:
Beautiful Sevilla

Columbus' tomb in the Sevilla Cathedral. They did DNA tests, so they know at least some of his remains are here...

View from the belltower

With Leah, Amanda, Hannah, and Alex in front of the cathedrall. You can't tell from this photo, but it's the 3rd largest cathedral in the world!

PALM TREES!!!

Plaza de España

They had tiled alcoves for each of Spain's provinces - we're such loyal Salamantinos!

The gardens of the Alahambra palace in Granada - the most visited place in Spain

The Alhambra is literally one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!

view of the Alhambra from the Albaicin neighborhood

cars barely fit down the narrow street of the Albaicin

Granada's cathedral (plus some people getting their wedding photos taken)

We went to see a flamenco show in one of the "caves" where the gypsies used to live

We stopped in Consuegra on the way back

The windmills of Consuegra that inspired Cervantes when he wrote Don Quijote

Probably my favorite photo of the trip - three Don Quijotes on "horseback" off to attack the windmills (yes, we're that lame...)
